• Next Screen: Select English at top.  After English site appears, click on "Searching the Genlias database" (above magnifying glass.)
• Next screen:  Type surname of your family.  Then type given name.  Fill in prefix, such as van, der, ten, or others.  Click Search. 
• "Search being executed" will appear - wait until search is completed.
• "Query Genlias database" appears.  Click on "Source", such as civil marriage or birth or death of the person being searched.
• Next screen:  Detail result - Gives a certificate printout with all vital information.  These can be printed.
• Sometimes you get a list with numerous names, sometimes only 1 or 10.

2.  Research in the province of Friesland only:

• Search for births, marriages, and deaths before 1811 and after 1811 at http://tresoar.nl.
    - Click on English flag in upper right hand corner.
    - Click on Genealogy on left hand side of screen (purple color).  Click on either Search before 1811 or Search after 1811.
• Next screen: Click on Birth, Marriage or Death. Check an area or town or Select all regions.
   - Scroll to "I want to search for" and type in name. Click on Search.
• Next screen: Search results. There will be several choices. Click on your choice.
• Next screen: Shows the "akte" or information. Three words at bottom of page:
  (1) Terug - go back
  (2) Opriewwzoeken - search again
  (3) Bestelformulier - you can order the certificate

3.  Look at original documents for baptism, birth, marriage, death, or burial at
        http://www.geneaknowhow.net/digi/bronnen.html. Or go to Google and type Digitale Brennen.
        Click on Digitale Bronbewerkingen Nederland en België.

 Click on English on the right hand side.  On the left hand side is a blue column of all 12 provinces.
          At the bottom of the blue column are also provinces of Belgium and Luxembourg.
          Go to the one you want to search by clicking on "Internet" below the selected province.

      Note:  At the top of the blue column you can search Passenger lists that show immigrants
	  who left the Netherlands as early as the 1600s (Mayflower). The towns are in alphabetical order.
	  Click on the selected town and select the type of record:
            
            Baptism (Dopen)
            Birth (Geboren)
            Marriage (Huwelijken)
            Death (Dood)
            Burial (Begraven)

            Most of these are translated into English, but not all.  The original document will appear.
